Larry Flesner shortened his wings slightly, I believe by not adding the wing tip extensions past the spars, but simply closed out the wing at the end. He reports his plane flies fine. I believe Roy Marsh built the KR2S that is featured as the add picture for RR and it is also a clipped wing version, but uses a different airfoil, and had very high landing speeds compared to normal KRs, and a small window between float and drop. Unless you have some very sophisticated design software that can simulate the effect of the increased wing loading, and decreased climb rate, I would leave well enough alone. There are plenty of other ways that other builders have accomplished what you want to do.
