Well, I finally touched down in Valdosta GA this morning about 8:00 am ET
after spending two nights in Vidalia GA due to low ceilings and rain. The
plane now has 122 hours on it and has run flawlessly on this trip. The only
inncident was the ground loop due to the thinwalled rudder pedal assy I wrote
about earlier.
I spent two nights with Larry Flesner (Marion IL) and one night with
Dan HEath (Columbia, SC) and got to look their planes over real well and have
a
nice visit with them. I also met with Larry Lipe - a KR wanabe...he has
visited me before here in Georgia. I also spent time in Elizabethton TN where
I
went to flight school in the early 90's. A few old instructors and
classmates were still there and a couple families from the mission days with
my
folks. It was an exciting trip covering eight states and about 3000 miles.
I
put about 25 hours on the plane and gave some rides. Learned a lot about
weather and the conditions I feel comfortable and uncomfortable flying in. It
was
a good learning experience and a lot of fun.
The KR2S flies great and handles great. The Corvair was worth every
penny and much, much more. I hope to see more KRs out soon and telling me
about
their trips.
Next on the schedule is to fly to to WW's in Edgewater FL - maybe
tomorrow.
Things to add to the plane... A glass Attitude Indicator would be nice -
especially in low ceilings - transponder for flight following - and a wing
leveler would help. But that cost $... I'm happy enough for now I guess just
flying.
Keep working hard. Thanks to all who provided a place to stay for
their time and hospitality. My home is always open to you...
Blessings... Bill Clapp N41768
