Someone else responded by saying it would be better to use a fuel flow gauge 
rather than a fuel pressure gauge. I think that is how we all got on the 
subject. I really believe if you install the mechanical one right you will 
not have any problems. Mine is a copper line to the firewall, a thru hull 
fitting and a flexible pressure line to the gauge. Same with oil pressure. 
It probably really does not matter except electric gauges are easier to 
install and just as cheap to buy.
