Dan, I've rebuilt and messed with a lot of VW engines, and I've never felt the need for a distibutor drive puller. I just use a set of reversing pliers or lock ring pliers. Stick 'em down in the hole in the top of the drive, squeeze the handles, and rotate while pulling. Comes right out, at least it always has for me. I'll send you mine, but I think you could buy some locally about as cheap as paying the return shipping. I'm pretty sure Sears sells them, and almost certainly a NAPA store, maybe.
