If you can do a neat scarf joint then there should be no problem. If
possible try to make the scarf fall on spruce vertical member or perhaps add
an additional spruce member at the scarf junture if your in doubt. Another
method is to simply butt joint the two pieces adding a two or three inch
piece over the joint on the inside of the fuselage. I presume the european
birch is an exterior grade....right?  Some plywoods have only three ply with
a softwood center core. Is this the case?
