Mark Just my 2 cents worth. When I was taxi testing in preparation for the first flight I was amazed at how soon the airplane wanted to lift off. It could be made to "skip" on the runway at approx 45mph and was in ground effect somewhere around 50mph ( not sure since the pitot tube had blockage I was unaware of until climbout ). With your big Corvair you will reach those speeds fairly quickly. I would recommend only using about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle to get it rolling and then bring it back to just enough to maintain speed. My KR behaved wonderfully in ground effect and was very predictable and docile, provided that I only gave it what it needed. Playing alittle bit with the controls to see response yielded a high speed taxi resembling a first time pilot in a twin, wiggling and waggling all over the centerline!
