Garmin is not the only manufacturer who fixes the price on their product. I work at Sears electronic dept and we sell the Bose 3-2-1 system. Bose sets the price of this system and Sears can't offer a discount on the system, even when everything else in the store is 10% off (if you use your sears card) the Bose system is not included in the sale. Bose may occasionally authorize a sale of $50 or $100 off on a system that cost $999.99.
