Does anyone know where I can find a list of shear strengths for AN bolts? I have been searching and can only find tensile strength.
In particular, I am looking for AN-3. The seat belt attach brackets on my Midget Mustang are AN-3 and loaded almost entirely in shear. Looks a little small to me, but I do know that a 5/32" aluminum rivet with less than a third the tensile strength is good for 675 pounds in shear so the AN-3 is most likely over 1,000 pounds. I would just like to know exactly what it is. The bolt goes through a structural steel aft spar member so I don't just want to drill it out for a bigger bolt.
