Thanks, everybody, for your answers to my query. yes, I was after the
wrench sizes, not the shank diameters.

Matt asked:

"Is there any such thing as Metric sized AN hardware? Or would you just
get high grade bolts in metric sizes if you need them... Just
wondering..."

Well, it is a question that I asked my French fellow builders this
week-end. Their answer is:

Yes, there is plenty of Metric aircraft grade hardware; it is widely used
in many European aircraft designs, including, of course, Airbus airliners.

But since AN stands for (US) Army-Navy, and these services seem to have no
intention to shift to International Standard (Metric), it seems highly
unlikely that there is such thing as "Metric AN".

Unless, maybe, the US Navy encountered some Metric bolts on their French
Dolphin helicopters?

Also, to my knowledge, the only aircraft manufacturers that fully apply
the metric system to their aircraft, from A to Z, and instrumentation
included, are the Russians.
