I once asked about using the 5" aluminum landing gear and brake set that Aircraft Spruce puts out in my KR-2S and I got a lot of response back that my plane would be too heavy for that landing gear set. I called up Azusa Industries out in Los Angles, CA. and they told me that if I went with that particular set then it wouldnt work cause the tires wouldn't be able to handle the wieght..... however I could still use the set IF I was to go from a 4-ply to like a 6 or an 8 ply tire then that would work for my aircraft. Just wanted to put that in the arcieves for people who are looking at that set. 5" wheel and brake set part#06-03100 $161.20 >From the research I have done 4-ply tires have a max. load rate of 800-1350lbs. An 6-ply max. load rate is 1285-3250lbs. An 8-ply max.load rate is 2350-4400lbs. These are figures from Aircraft Spruce Catalog McCreary tires tire sizes ranging from 5.00-5 to 8.5-10.
