The short version is that it's now good enough to fly with the prop I have, and I can go back to finishing up the airframe! The only engine details left are carb heat and a breather. Ram air will come AFTER I start flying, so I can tell how much of an improvement it makes.
I taxied around in the driveway a little yesterday. My 9 year old daughter, who was in charge of chocks in case I got stuck in a precarious position (our driveway is at an angle, and only 20' wide) eventually ran inside and reported "Mom, Dad almost crashed in the driveway!" That's when I decided I'd install the rudder and the cables to the steerable tailwheel today, rather than depending on the brakes...
