NetHeads,

See http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/corvair/first_runs/ for an update on
recent engine runs with the new Ellison EFS-3A carb installed. There's also
some info on how I made the carb end of the manifold at
http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/corvair/intake.html#update. The short
version is that it's now good enough to fly with the prop I have, and I can
go back to finishing up the airframe! The only engine details left are carb
heat and a breather. Ram air will come AFTER I start flying, so I can tell
how much of an improvement it makes.

I taxied around in the driveway a little yesterday. My 9 year old daughter,
who was in charge of chocks in case I got stuck in a precarious position
(our driveway is at an angle, and only 20' wide) eventually ran inside and
reported "Mom, Dad almost crashed in the driveway!" That's when I decided
I'd install the rudder and the cables to the steerable tailwheel today,
rather than depending on the brakes...
