That should work if you have a remote probe.  Most units on certified
aircraft are one piece with the dial on the end of the probe and are
mounted through the windshield at the rear edge.  Slip stream or
not, it doesn't care.  50 degree air at 0 mph or 150 mph is 
still 50 degree air.  Air motion only matters when computing "wind
chill factor" which is the "rate" of heat loss.
