The STC states that it is safe to run the engine on 87. There is no legal or technical reason to ever use 100LL. However some owners believe that something is missing from the auto fuel and occasionally put in 100LL, to help extent the ware on the engine. I sometimes work on aircraft where the owners place all sorts of concoctions in the fuel in the name of extending the life. It is my belief that how you operate the engine and how often you service the engine will do more to extend the lift then any thing else one might try.
