I used white silicone in the gap and it worked and looked great.

As for the "seam tape"  builders have used just about everything
you can imagine.  Duct tape will work.  I used aluminum flashing
material.  It is very light weight and comes in a 10 foot roll that is
six inches wide. Cut it down the middle and one roll is enough to 
do a KR.  Mine was supposed to be temporary but I've got 76 hours 
on the KR now and haven't even started the permanant fiberglass 
ones yet.
