In Florida they also have a sales and use tax system set up. What I did was to form a sole proprietor business for the aircraft construction, acquire a tax exemption number and certificate, and then report every month what if any tax I owe. Been doing this a little over one year and the only hassle is the monthly reporting. When the airplane sells (how long I don't know) then I just have to charge sales tax appropriate to my county and pay the State of Florida their cut then. If you don't want to go this route make sure you find out first what the tax is and buy your airplane with the tax as part of the final price, or pay as you go on the parts, and keep good records so you don't get overtaxed/doubletaxed. The one thing I have found out here is that even different departments in the same building do not talk well, so do not count on different parts of the same agency, or different agencies communicating. Keep good records....
