A lot of people are suprised about the missing ribs. They do contribute a lot, and I wouldn't hesitate to put them in if I were you, especially considering the minimal weight. Being carbon fiber, my wings are really tough, and the two spars are tied together with a piece of quarter inch plywood at the tip (the template), not to mention all of the double skin, so I'm not worried about mine at all.
