A while back an article surfaced about using West System 105 resin / 206
hardener as a weave and pin hole filler on a cured fiberglass lay up. There
were some areas on my cowl which were pretty badly pitted with pin holes and
weave. Yesterday morning, I applied a very thin film of the West System on my
cowl. Be sure to squeegee off all excess epoxy. The remaining epoxy flowed into
every pin hole and weave impression. Twelve hours later the epoxy had cured
completely and left an incredibly smooth surface. All I have to do is sand the
surface to give the primer some tooth to grip to. This was the easiest pin hole
filling that I have ever done and I have tried many types of filler over the
last six years.
