I lost my Dad about 2 months ago to the same. Long hard battle with a bad valve. He almost died about 12 years ago on the table getting a bypass. Didn't want to do it again.
Though my dad did not fly, in fact the opposite, he shot down a Zero in WWII. He was a gunner on a merchant ship, and was proud to serve. He had the full military funeral with taps and gun salute. It was a cold windy day in Illinois flatland country, with old vets braving -10 windchill during the funeral to do the honors. I was as proud of them as I was dad. Steve McGee Endeavor Wi.
