A certain line of Spam Cans uses a 1/4" aluminum tube running the full length of the wing, then attaches the pitot tube at the outer end of the wing with a short length of Tygon(tm) or similar hose. No propwash, landing gear, blanking in a slip, etc. concerns at all.
Simply remove the plastic/f'glas wingtip to access the pitot tube installation, especially handy when the local mud- daubers have Homesteaded on the one day you forgot to put on the pitot cover.
