2180's are more prone to EVERYTHING! The heads are the weak link in both these engines. 10 hours is about all I'd go on the 2180. I was always having to adjust. Overheating with the 2180 since it is thermally limited is always an issue. The 1835 is probably THE engine I'd run if I were to use a VW again. If configured conservatively they seem to perform pretty well from a durability and reliability standpoint. I was running a 2180 in my Sonerai 2. I was not impressed. I'm puting a Continental in my Horizon 2.
