I just want to make certain there is no misunderstanding as to the price of the Dynon unit. As Larry stated "If you want FULL advantage of the system, you also >>need to add their pitot system at $195 + a mount kit at $95."
The key word there is....full. The only function you will not be able to use without adding an option is the Angle of Attack. The unit will provide all other functions with the expenditure of $1995 using the standard power supply in your airplane and the existing pitot/static system. If you have no use for the AOA, just use whatcha got. The remote sensor allows you to isolate the magnetic sensor to an area of your aircraft to minimize any metallic influence on the DG function. In my case, I don't need it but I got it anyway. If you want to flush mount the unit you gotta spring for an additional $20 or in keeping with the KR, manufacture one yourself. The back of the unit is standard aircraft instrument round and will slide in as a replacement for an AH or TC. A lot of guys are now going with the aeroelectric main/essential bus layout and doing away with the internal battery. Once again, the unit wil function without the internal battery. It, as with the other listed prices, is simply an option. The cut and paste is directly off their website this morning >>>>remote EDC-D10 sensor $99. Internal backup battery, $129. Unheated >>>>AOA/Pitot probe, $199. Flush Mount Bracket, $20. <<< Once again, the only function not available to you, at the price of $1995, is the AOA with no additional expense to plug and play the unit.
