Dan & Orma, I have to agree with the time of year for most of the country. Here in Florida we do not face the fall and winter time challenges to flying as badly as the rest of the country. At one point Brian Kraut and I discussed having something similar to Dana Overall's latest get together, and have kind of a warm up to the Gathering. I would support and even help co-sponsor such an event here in Central Florida, and try to arrange it at SFB or LEE airports. They each have plenty of space, and good FBO support, LEE is uncontrolled and out of Bravo airspace for those without transponders, and SFB has the better ramp space and FBOs but is within the 30nm veil. (actually under the shelf). I am in no way trying to take away from what Larry Flesner has already organized, I intend on flying to this year's Gathering. But I would support a supplement to this year's and possibly replace the Gathering with one here next year. But wherever it is, late spring to summer is best, all the way around.
