        I am an agent for VW engine centre.
        After reading your email sent to the KRnet on 27/2/04 regarding Engine 
Choices, I had a few concerns regarding some of the issues you raised as well 
as the replies you received from that email, so I contacted Ron Slender to 
discuss these issues.  

        We are posting this reply to the KRnet regarding some of these replies 
you received, as we feel they miss lead other KRnet readers

        Price Quoted $13,746.00 $US with Prop, Engine mount, fuel pumps,fuel 
filters, Anti surge tank (about 1 litre capacity) , Exhaust 2 into 1 and 
delivered to Nearest International terminal or LA.
        You would be responsible to clear customs and freight to your 
address.We understand that Aircraft Engines are DUTY and TAX free??
        So I may question the $700 customs and Freight.
        I would also question the  Extra $2000 needed for airframe mods when 
0-200 and Corvair are being fitted into these aircraft without those mods. The 
extra height components are only available in Australia we believe.
        The extra weight we feel would be still under the weight of an 0-200 
(240 lb , 108kg) or Corvair (225 lb- 102 kg) instalation.
        You talked about the extra 25 hp, but I feel the 200+ ft/lb of torque 
is a much more important issue for shorter ground roll and rate of climb which 
you indicated that you dont care if you use a 1000 feet to rotate from. The 
tuneability is also a key issue and the 2200 is going to be tuned on 94 octane 
which is easy for us as it is a program.
        Whats fuel cost in the US per gallon for 94 octane.? About half the 
cost of 100 LL I believe.
        Thats the versitility of direct port fuel injection with Ignition 
Management. 

        There must be a reason why more and more enthusiasts are looking toward 
the higher performance engines to fit the KR2 and S series aircraft.
        The current climb rate is slow, the take off at max weight is marginal 
and gets worse with hot conditions. Enthusiasts want more performance and our 
engines offer that opportunity but some aspects of the design need to be 
addressed like prop clearance because bigger engines use bigger propellers and 
that is what inspires us all to proceed to a higher level.
        The RG TT 2200 EFI and the 2000 EFI has done just that. Although we 
offer carb engines ( RG2000 around $9000 us) there is no comparison trying to 
compare a direct drive carb engine to the latest EFI technology.
