Yesterday Dan and Jerry drove up from South Carolina for a visit and to borrow
my cowling, a visit that was planned at the last KR Gathering. I had planned to
have my KR out of the garage with wings on when they arrived but the rain
changed that plan. My friend Mike Hyers (Many of you know him from the
Corvaircraft net) came over to help me with the wings but instead we sat and
drank coffee. When Dan and Jerry arrived we looked over the KR and talked about
KRs and people on the net and and drank more coffee (It was a cold, rainy day)
and generally had a good visit. We went out to Flyers airpark where Dan and
Jerry meet some of the good old boys to include Gene Byrd a former KR builder
and Giff (Gifford Gillingham) who is a very experienced aircraft builder and
mechanic. My cowling was not what they expected so on that account their
mission was not completed but Giff welded two control tubes for them so they
got more work on their airplane than I did. Dan and Jerry, It was good to see
you again and I enjoyed your visit. It is always good to get together with
other KR builders and get some building tips or just enjoy the company. I
encourage KY builders to go visit someone even if you have to drive 3 hours to
get there and you loose a day of work on the KR. It will pay big dividends on
encouragement and enthusiasm just as the KR gathering does. Oh yes, Jerry
tried to steal the heated seat out of my van but he didn't get away with it.
