> Been a long time with no posts from me, yay. I made the plywood sheer web for mounting the HS but havn't installed it yet. What are the tricks to aligning the HS perfect? >Justin ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++=
Justin, There are no tricks but it is a very easy install if you follow the plans and don't try to turn it into brain surgery. I used my firewall as a reference when building my KR. According to the plans (drawings) , with the firewall plumb the H.S. is set to zero degrees. My KR is a 24 inch stretch but it flies just fine with that setting. To accomplish the setup you simply: 1. Get the "boat" set up level front to rear and side to side. 2. Pull a line from the firewall centerpoint to the centerpoint on the tail so you can center the spars on the boat. 3. Rest the rear H.S. spar on the top longeron and with a bubble level determine the height to raise the front H.S. spar so the level sets "level" across the top of the two spars, front to rear. 4. Level the spars side-to-side. 5. Insure you have an equal distance from each tip to the firewall centerpoint. You're there. Glue it in place. This doesn't take into account the arguements about the wing incidence being too much at 3.5 degrees and what the exact alignment of the H.S. should be with the wing. If you've gone down that road you'll have to adjust your proceedure to accomodate your changes. The process would still be basiclly the same but if you're making changes you'll probably need a digital level to get things right. Larry Flesner
