Thomas,
There is a web site called "Barnstormers"
http://www.barnstormers.com/cat.php
where I see KR-2 aircraft for sale all the time. Most of the ad's I see are
in your price range. However, the KR aircraft are high performance and not
recommended for beginners. The reason the trainers you mention in your post
would be better for you to start off in is because they are not high
performance. All of them are very forgiving and easy to fly and you should
learn at least to a private license, get some hours in one of them, then go
on to training in the KR-2. However if you insist on learning in a KR, find
one with a try gear rather than a tail dragger. You will become qualified
and safe in a try gear much faster than a tail dragger. good luck.
