Ray:

Polymethyl methacrylate is acrylic sheet - it is sold under the tradenames
Lucite and Plexiglas (among others). There are as many varieties of acrylic
sheet as there are manufacturers. For example, ICI chemical sells "G-cell
Plexiglas" which is supposedly very easy to thermoform.

I used 1/8" (actually .117") for my windscreen. It thermoformed relatively
easily in a small solar oven I made. Forget about Lowe's - you can get it
from Port Plastics in Fort Worth for a fraction of the price. And forget
about Lexan - it's a polycarbonate product that develops tiny cracks at the
slightest provocation (ask Dan Heath).
