RE: What do you mean by "putting your rudder cables in a closed loop"?
Some people run separate rudder cables from pedal to rudder horn and sometimes put a spring loaded tension cable between the two pedals. I believe that you should have no spring in that tension cable, but rather, a turn buckle. That way, you can maintain tension on the cable loop at all times. One pedal cannot move without the other one moving in the opposite direction and there is never any slop in the system.
