I have seen a lot of KRs with the two inch aluminum or vinyl or even tape. My
joints are pretty close fitting and I was just going to use white silicone in
the joint. That will look a lot better and be more aerodynamic. When I need
to take the wings off I can just cut through the thin bead of silicone with an
Xacto blade. For the bolt hole covers I was going to make clear 3/8"
plexiglass covers with screws that go through the top cover and into T nuts in
the bottom cover. That way I can keep an eye on the bolts and fittings. For
right now I am flying without covers.

I will post the results of how my cover scheme comes out and put pictures on my
web site.

Subject: KR>Trim for wing joint

It appears that most KR's have a two inch wide strip of aluminum covering the
joint between the stub and main wings. The ones at Red Oak looked professional
and intentional.

How are they attached to the wing so they can be removed for annual
inspections? I saw one with screws on the bottom end, but the others had no
external evidence of fasteners.
