The next time that you buy a steel tape measure, be sure to get one that has English on one side, such as the top and metric on the other side , below the English. Thus you have instant conversion of one to the other for the measurement that you are doing. Personally I never try to convert. I now find that I use which ever is the most convenient.If it is easier to use one than the other , that is which I choose.This could only become a problem when you are recording the measurement and writing it down, then you must mark in the system of use.
