Larry, The best thing to resolve your issue is to put some two part pour in place foam on the edges and let it "weld" the blocks together. This way you end up with a continuous foam core without gaps or hard glue joints. It works out great because you don't need to be too careful about fit of the blocks because the foam will expand to fill up any gaps.
