It'll work on the intake side. Before I built up my VW2180 I talked a friend into nippling his dune buggy intake and placed a regulator between AH and the intake. It will spin up as long as you are not at full power. After startup, you vac. instruments will spin up as you taxi to takeoff but will lose airflow during your takeoff and climbout. I would believe the instruments would still be spinning fast enough though so as indicate properly. I wouldn't rely on this being IFR (but I still don't consider the KR to an IFR airplane in any shape or form) so this shouldn't be a problem. Changes your mixture setting a little but as long as you have mixture control it works. I don't know how many instruments you could run with it as I forget now the amount of pull you have to regulate......the number 6 sticks in my mind right now. The backup vac. system in my Bonanza is an STC'd systems that works exactly the same way. The documetation states to pull back the power so as to generate max vac differential to drive all the instruments.
OH, but Jerry.........you ask about exhaust.............got me:-) Man, it sure seems like it would work though, doesn't it. Go nipple your lawn mower and see if it will pull 6":-) Dana Overall Richmond, KY RV-7 slider/fuselage http://rvflying.tripod.com do not archive >From: "KRJerry" <krje...@bellsouth.net> >Reply-To: KR builders and pilots <kr...@mylist.net> >To: <kr...@mylist.net> >Subject: Re: Re: KR>Glass cockpit-vacum source........ >Date: Fri, 25 Apr 2003 22:49:35 -0700 (Pacific Daylight Time) > >Netters......... > >Have any of you guys looked at drawing a vacum from your exhaust.....? > >After the Wannabee gets into the air we are going to look into it again. >We >have both considered it before on other planes.............. > > >N64KR >Jerry Mahurin >Lugoff, SC >krje...@bellsouth.net >http://kr-builder.org > > >-------Original Message------- > >From: KR builders and pilots >Date: Thursday, April 24, 2003 03:13:12 PM >To: KR builders and pilots >Subject: Re: Re: KR>Glass cockpit-IFR etc.-Long > >I have heard several opinions on IFR in a KR ranging from it can be done >but >is a lot of work all the way to you will die if you even attemp it.
