The reviewer helps you to identify areas where you're rusty or deficient and then you work on them to get back up to speed. It's not a "checkride" where you make it or you don't... the reviewer just won't endorse your logbook until he or she is satisfied that you have demonstrated the skills needed for safe exercise of the privileges of the pilot certificate.
