What does the KR Gathering mean to me? I concur with Lee and Jeff especially about seeing old friends again each year.
I'll add this. The 1st KR Gathering I attended was like Christmas day as a kid. I had trouble sleeping in anticipation - I was that excited to see the planes and pick them apart trying to determine how they worked and how they were built. I got a ride in a KR2 from Marty Roberts and I was hooked bad. It took 8 years and 1500 hours but I got her done. I had a wife, 3 kids and two jobs so I think the time I took was actually pretty reasonable. The relationships with the folks weren't there the 1st year, but as you keep returning you see the same faces again and again with many of the same passions for flying and airplanes. All this regardless of if they have one built or not. I've been going to Gatherings now since 1998, and I still enjoy it greatly. I'm sure I'll keep going for many years to come. I've gotten so much out of building and flying my KR I decided to host a gathering and return something to the group. So please come to Lee's Summit next September and let's continue this adventure.
