That's called an "impulse coupler". One or both mags can have the coupler. If only one mag then you start on that mag and go to both after start. The coupler retards the spark to at or near TDC while cranking to start and reverts to advance with operating rpm. My Tripacer used it on one mag and the 0-200 uses it on both mags. Larry Flesner
