  If you look at the 
  photo  https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32133949/100_5553.JPG  you 
  will see at the end of the wing the 1/8" steel strap that is 
  permanently mounted to the ends of the main spar caps, in line with 
  the airflow for little or no drag.  The strap covers both spar cap 
  ends inside the wing with a 3/16" bolt epoxied lengthwise into the 
  end of the cap approximately 2 1/2" long.  I figure if winds are 
  strong enough to rip out the ends of the spar caps and sheer web the 
  KR is probably toast by then anyway.
