Depends on where you go and how tight your schedule is. I fly my plane for work all the time and my normal trips are 400-500 miles away. I occasionally will leave the day before when I have a morning meeting, but by airline I would normally have to leave the day before for a morning meeting anyway. With a late morning or afternoon meeting I check the weather the day before and decide depending on how iffy it is if I will fly the next morning, fly the day before, or drive the day before. In about a dozen trips over the last year I went a day early twice and drove once, but I always made it on time.
