I'm sure Jeff Scott (A&P) will speak up on this subject, but the brass fittings 
that thread into the cylinders should have tapered threads, which means that 
they tighten mechanically as they screw in.  I have used "EZ Turn Lubricant" to 
seal NPT threaded fittings, but I have also used Teflon tape on the brake line 
fittings.  Loctite will keep the fittings from loosening under vibration, but I 
wouldn't think that those fittings would be rotating under any conditions.

I would only use red aircraft hydraulic brake fluid.  More information here:
