Hey Colin I used the blue foam from the big box airplane store. I used it every bay from the rear shelf foreword including between the floor boards. I planed it down to 5/8" thick and fitted it between every space in the truss work of the cockpit area. I never operated the plane without the insulation but have flown with several others that just had the open truss sides and I am certain that mine is quitter. It can't hurt. The weight in this case is very small as the foam is 2# per cu. ft. I think and there is probably only 3# total at the 5/8" thick. The plane is still comfortable to fly in down to 0 deg. OAT. It also created the backing to be able to use the veneer that I mentioned before. Just need to find the right glue as any solvent based glue melts the foam.Joe ---------- Forwarded Message ---------- From: "Collin Cleland" <rapidangel at shaw.ca> To: <joe.kr2s.builder at juno.com>, "KRnet" <krnet at list.krnet.org> Hi Joe,
I was wondering what you used for fuselage insulation, how much (thickness), and where, as well as what the weight of it came to. Also, was there a noticeable difference in noise, and/or heat retention. Thanks Collin ____________________________________________________________ Buffett's "Real Threat"??? See the technology W.
