3/32" is plenty.  If you don't have the EAA series of books by Tony
Bengelis, you need to buy all four and read them ASAP.  I'm pretty sure it
covers the details of making these cables, although I'd have to see whether
it's Sportplane Builder or Sportplane Construction Techniques that goes into
the most detail on these.  These are most vital of the four are the two
"Sportplane" books ( see
