adjust the mixture control cable to lean a few turn and see if the leak stops.

My VW runs good but I have a gas leak dripping when I open the fuel valve. So I
shut it off after a few seconds to start it then back on after she fires up. Is
there an bad "O" ring I missed or just another process of adustment on the
needle to stop the leak?
