"One very slick way to mount a socket (wherever and whatever kind of

Stirewalt, originally built by Max Calkin, I think it was."

As you mention on the Red Oak page linked above, my KR-1? (formerly owned
by Steve Bennett) was built by Ken Cottle of Columbia, MO. He and Jim
Faughn built their planes about the same time and flew around together
(Oshkosh, etc.) a lot when JF lived in St. Louis.

According to Ken, when he and Dan Diehl were making the wingskin
installation video, Dan came up with the name KR-1?. Dan said since it
wasn't a 1 or a 2, it must be a "one and a half.". Ken started with KR-1
plans and made modifications from there.

Ken is currently flying one of the three KR's built by Sam Bailey of
Pratt, KS. Marc Baca has another one and the third is in an aviation
museum in Pratt or somewhere near.
