Hello - My name is Cheryl Lee and I am writing on behalf on my husband Bob Lee. He is a fellow aircraft builder and is part of these mailing lists. Some of you have met him over the years at the KR Gatherings and he has handled the KR Gathering webiste up until this year. Late last fall Bob began not feeling to well. He had open heart surgery 2 years ago and thought something might be up with his heart. So he started seeing his cardiologist. He thought he was feeling some better but I didn't really see much improvement. In March I had to take him to the hospital and he was found to be anemic and dehydrated. They found out he had some ulcers that were bleeding in his stomach that was causing him to be anemic. While finding that out they saw something suspicious on his pancreas and liver. They brought in an oncologist and did a liver bioposy as they suspected cancer. They got his stable and sent us home and we were to get the results of the bioposy a week later. We never even suspected cancer. The day before we were to get the results from the liver bioposy Bob had a huge stroke in the left frontal lobe. This affected his memory, communication skills and processing skills. For 5 to 6 days he did not know who he was or any of his family. Then finally he started to recognize me and our 3 children. He has finally started to recognize other immediate family and a very few friends. He spent two weeks in the hospital trying to get his blood stabilized and start therapy. About 2 weeks ago we moved his to a rehab center to continue with PT, OT, and speech therapy. The communication going in still gets messed up. Sometimes he understands and others times he doesn't. He knows enough to tell you he doesn't understand you or know you. His speech going out has gotten better but he doesn't always express himself correctly. The memory has a long way to go. He doesn't read or write much as some of this has affect his vision as well. His balance and walking has greatly improved and he doesn't need a walker or cane. Late in the day he needs assistance as he gets tired. Hopefully he will be coming home this upcoming week and we will have in home therapy to continue his progress. I will be here with him and working with him as well as he can not drive. We have to master things like stairs in our house, taking care of his hygiene and even the simple things of putting clothes on correctly. He has come a long way and is doing better each day. He is heading in the right direction. We are working toward his recovery from the stroke and in the next two weeks will be getting a second opinion on cancer treatment. They have a Cancer Care Center in Newnan (an houraway from us) that we will be going to if they will take him. I am not sure due to the stroke if he remembers the possibility of having cancer.
In my work, I am a contractor. I have no insurance. All our insurance is up under Bob right now. He will not be going back to work as a bus driver this fall and therfore his benefits will expire. I am looking to go back to work then so we will get benefits under me. Right now my main concern is to help him recover as much as possible from the stroke and start some cancer treatments. When all this came down my children and I were devasted. But since then we have pulled together and become strong for Bob with the help of our family, friends, and neighbors. The high school that our youngest son attends is dedicating a baseball game to him come next Friday night, April 11. They are taking donations on our behalf. Please visit the site of www.eteamz.com/lambertbaseball. The medical bills are coming in and with our wonderful Obamacare, we have our fair share to pay. Please donate to our cause so that I can stay home and take care of Bob to help him more forward in his recovery. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated no matter the amount. I do not think that Bob will ever finish his airplane much less fly it. I need to sell it as that will help with our medical expenses and mortgage payments as well. He has alot of information and pictures of his project on his website of www.flyboybob.com. Please go out and view it and pass it along to anyone who would be interested in buying his project. He has the body with retractable landing gear, Steve Bennett motor, Dan Diehl wing skins, and a nice insturment panel. I will have to look for the plans. I even have some tools that can be purchased as well if a buyer needs them to help finish the plane. I do not have a price yet as I need to talk with a few builders to find out what a fair price would be. We live Suwanee Georgia and will be glad to have anyone comelook at the project. Please feel free to respond to this email or you may contact me via my personal email of shortbus1017 at gmail.com or my cell number is 404-538-1434. I will be responding to all interested as Bob doesn't understand how to use a cell phone or his computer right now. Thank you for taking time to read this email and pass it along. Please consider donating as well as things are really tight for us. I have a hard time asking for help and money but am learning to do that now as I am trying to keep a roof over our head. I have no income right now since my job is a contractor person. When I don't work I don't get paid. Every little bit helps and our family will be truly blessed by all who donate. I look forward to hearing from any and all interested buyers. God Bless All of You, Cheryl
