Yep. I've found that saving the underside for the last of a batch of epoxy...paint the foam with epoxy slurry, wet out the glass on plastic sheeting, and then not be a big hurry to marry the two up. That way it's a little stickier and more likely to stay put. Working in cooler temperatures gives more time to keep squeegeeing the two together until you're sure it'll stay there too. This works with Aeropoxy and probably most other epoxies, but with vinylester, there's rarely time to dawdle. Of course the best advice is flip the part over, which is easier said than done on the whole airplane, and likely the problem when dealing with a cowling that needs to be a perfect fit to the fuselage...
