I've been looking at a route already. Thinking of flying to Los Alamos or vicinity as the midpoint for me, then head out from there. Definitely a little bit of mountain flying in the Sante Fe Los Alamos area. But also looks like I can keep the KR under 10,000.
FYI, my broken Bendix Dual Magneto is repaired and should be shipping back to me today. Yea! Hopefully get the KR back flying again this weekend. Just 1 week too short. Flying to a KR Gathering is more fun than driving to it. Therefore the mountain training would not be necessary. Once you get past Albuquerque it's pretty flat all the way to Chino Lee Van Dyke On Oct 7, 2013, at 7:36 PM, "Dennis Dyer" <kr2s at mtnguy.com> wrote: > What I meant to say was... > AOPA has an online course in mountain flying that might be of interest to the fliers planning the flight to the 2014 Gathering. A bonus is that it qualifies for the WINGS FAA Pilot Proficiency Award Program.
