I bought all plywood and spruce to build another KR-like airplane about two
years ago also. I can't really compare the prices, as I bought a lot more
than the standard KR2S wood kit for this new project. One thing about
Wicks is the longerons they send are about two feet longer than the plans
call for, so if you want to build a longer KR, here's your ticket. AS&S may
do the same thing though, for all I know. In general, Wicks is often a tad
higher than AS&S, but they're nice folks and I like to support them whenever
possible. Most KR folks know that Wicks built a KR back in the early days,
and if I remember correctly, it only took a matter of a few weeks.

Larry Flesner and I flew in to visit them near St. Louis a few years ago for
an open house. We got a tour of the aircraft side, as well as the
organ-building side. It was not a good economic time and things looked like
they were slowing down a bit for Wicks. I've tried even harder to support
them since then. Consider what would happen if AS&S was the only game in
town with no competition...
