After much unheeded advice, much soul searching and nearly crashing the
airplane, The Move for the 2180 VW is underway. The aluminum spacer blocks
are in place now pushing the engine mount forward by 2-inches. Wheel base
is increased by 1-1/4 inches with a spacer block at the fire wall for the
nose wheel strut. The Revmaster oil cooler, larger oil pump, engine-driven
fuel pump, engine-mounted oil filter and engine-mounted oil pressure sender
are in place. Revmaster still owes me an oil side drain assembly. Some
minor rerouting will be required, but I am pleasantly surprised that the
engine control cables and wire connections will still fit nicely.
Relocating the air filter, carb heat and cabin heat air circuits are waiting
their turn. I still need to clean up all those pesky details. Also
remaining is the new cowl, cylinder cooling ducts and induction for the oil
cooler. While I am glassing, will also make new wing attach fairings and a
replacement nose wheel pant. I really should move the main wheels 2-inches
further aft, but that will just have to wait another era.

I still plan to be at the Gathering even as my airplane languishes in the
shop another four days.
