  Subject: KR> Third Flight

Made the third flight on my KR-2 early this morning just after sun rise when
the day is as cool as it gets and no wind. Did slow flight around the
pattern, approaches to stall and flap deployment. Get definite pitch down
with each increasing notch of flaps. Elevator trim tab system works good.
First approach was too high so went around with full flaps. Not much on the
climb rate with full flaps, but I knew that from my Cessna time. I was in
no hurry; cleared the trees by a good 200 feet. Next approach with full
flaps first touch was about 65 Kts and 1000 ft down the runway. Bounced, of
course, but it was rather gentle. Flew it down to another gentle bounce.
Flew that down to the real touch down. Failed to note the actual touchdown
speed. Roll out was a non-event.
Back at the hangar Bernie Wunder observed that "You are getting a lot more
confident with the landings." Flaps are the magic ingredient.

Still have the oil cooling problem. Thanks to the KRnet and all the
generous advice, I have several options. Just trying to decide which one
will get the job done with minimum fuss and down time. I am starting to
like flying this airplane. As Jim Faughn said in the KR song "...it's more
fun than anything". I am beginning to know what he was saying.
