Still checking systems. Cabin heat is definitely working since I remembered to shut the cabin vents. Running back and forth on the taxiway still trying to get the ground steering smooth and positive. Very interesting to hold brakes, advance to full throttle and watch the nose steadily go down, then back up as throttle is brought to idle. The nose strut is flexing from engine thrust. Made one run down the runway up to 40 kts. Ran about 2,000 feet on two wheels. I could hold the pitch at any position over a 10 degree range according to the Dynon. Pitch is responsive, but quite easy to handle. Back at the hangar I had to pull straight down on the prop with about 50 pounds to get the same nose dip as at full throttle. Looking at the thrust line relative to the main wheels and doing a little math, that equates to about 200 pounds static thrust with the 52 x 52 prop at 3080 RPM. With increased RPM for more hp at cruise speed, just might get 150 kts with a 76 hp VW. Time will tell.
