Hello Pali, Hello! How are you feeling this year on GSoC?
Amazing! More than GSoC, KDE is always fun to contribute in :D Though I feel that I am a bit slow currently with my post-grad starting in few days and all. But I l be strict on my timeline, so not a reason for worry. How is coding going? Do > you need some help with anything? I have begun with coding and currently writing the class to get Communi with Kopete. Also, Michel suggested me to work on basic code architecture so that any kind of IRC code can be fit in if Communi does not works best for Kopete in the future. A basic wire-frame. So, I l be beginning with that. Currently, you can see the patches here: http://quickgit.kde.org/?p=clones%2Fkopete%2Fakshayratan%2Fakshayratan-irc.git <http://quickgit.kde.org/?p=clones%2Fkopete%2Fakshayratan%2Fakshayratan-irc.git> I l email you whenever I need some help with Kopete codebase. I am in touch with Michel and he has been great in giving me directions whenever I am in stuck. I would like to see from you updated > timeline to match everything what you needed to change... And send > timeline to kopete-devel ML so other people will see it too. > I am writing the updated timeline with the email shared with the community. :) Further, I l be blogging as and when I complete a subtask along with updating the status on KDE wiki shared earlier by Lydia! Thanks! *TIMELINE: * *Coding, documentation and bug fixing will be more or less done simultaneously in * *phases as mentioned below so that much work is not left for the last. Also after a * *particular feature review by the mentor, I propose to merge the branch with the master * *branch then only and not wait till the end of GSoC Program to ship the code. This will * *ensure faster releases of the new versions with better feature set. * *Coding PHASE I * *May 27th - June 10th * *(2 weeks) * *● Extending the Protocol class to implement IRC Protocol methods * *● Wireframe for IRC support - a simple plugin to hold any code for IRC* *● Integration of Communi Open-Source IRC Framework with Kopete - CMake dependecies already done* *● Documentation * *June 13th – July 3rd * *(3 weeks) * *● Writing the main business logic for IRC Plugin* *● Unit testing for Communi based IRC support* *● Working model testing * *● Bug fixing for Phase1 * *● Documentation * *Midterm evaluation* *Coding PHASE II * *July 3rd – July 23rd * *(3 weeks) * *● Researching the features of IRC and subprotocols to be further implemented * *● Extensive testing to ensure support for further features in the new IRC plugin * *July 25th – July 31st * *(1 week) * *● Will be attending Akademy 2015 in Coruna, Spain Annual KDE Conference. * *● Demo and BoF of the Kopete Application to gain feedback from the entire KDE * *Community * *July 31st – Aug 15th * *(2 weeks) * *● Implementing the Akademy feedback from the community and the Kopete * *mentors * *● Unit testing the IRC Support and the features implemented * *● Product testing and cleaning the code * *● Bug Fixing for Phase II * *Pencil down PHASE III * *August 17th – August 28th * *(1 week) * *● Wrapping up the project * *● Documentation * *● Cleaning the code * *● Submitting the final code for evaluation and integration in the main repository. * I will update the community whenever I have to change targets.
